Retaining Walls

There are lots of reasons to build retaining walls and several kinds to choose from.

The most important part - choosing the experienced, knowledgeable team for the job.

Retaining walls do one thing - hold back the earth. While the reasons for needing this to be done are varied and the ways the walls achieve this are many, the retaining wall is a permanent structure that has a single purpose. When you're looking for a company to literally hold back the earth, it's a good idea to talk with people who move earth and dirt and rocks day in and day out.

Scott Tankersley Excavation understands that retaining walls need to do their job and keep on doing their job for generations and even hundreds of years. Done right and they will last that long. Done wrong, well, much less. And done wrong, retaining walls can cause serious injury and damage.

Which is where the STE way comes into play. We do the job right the first time. Whether preparing the ground to build a custom luxury house on or holding back the earth in order to better utilize a plot of land, we know what it takes because we've been doing it for more than a decade. Plus, Scott and his crew don't walk away until the job is done right and deserving of the Tankersley name and stamp of approval.

  • Small backyard needing to carve extra space out of the hillside behind it
  • Sloping areas needing to be flattened in order to better utilize the space
  • Large commercial projects needing multiple areas, levels and walls built
  • Correct installation and engineering on every retaining wall we build
  • Drainage requirements to match the area and soil built into every project

retaining walls

Retaining walls need to be both attractive and strong as one of the secondary purposes of them is to be decorative. That's not a problem - beautiful decorative retaining walls are easily done when required. However, STE will never prioritize beauty and convenience over proper construction and engineering. The primary purpose, as stated above, is to hold back the earth and that doesn't change, no matter how pretty the owner wants them to look.

By utilizing correct drainage procedures and construction methods, hydrostatic pressure will be relieved, allowing the walls Scott Tankersley builds to continue to be strong for decades and decades. We'll work with the client to ensure we create a wall that is not only functional and enduring but also matches the look you're trying to go for. And if you need a massive land moving project to elevate and stabilize a plot of commercial land? The excavation perfectionist should be your first call.
